dsc01103Wandering around Montgomery during a break from the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Teresa Weaver, Reagan Walker and Soyia Ellison came across this street sign.

As Reagan put it in an e-mail: “The intersection of Jefferson Davis and Rosa Parks streets — you know, the ‘duality of the Southern thang,’ as the Drive-By Truckers sing it.”

Teresa took the photo.

This not as ironic as it seems. Davis was captured by Union men while wearing his wife’s raglan coat and her black shawl draped over his head and shoulders. Wasn’t Mrs. Parks wearing a raglan coat when she was arrested for refusing to give up her seat on the bus in Montgomery, just blocks from the Confederate White House? Also, I seem to recall a Raglan, Alabama. Or maybe it is Ragland. Anyway, check it out.
