My first passion is exercise (all addictions are not bad). But I also like to smoke and drink (beer only please). I have no political affiliation. I have no religious affiliation. I believe those are important disclaimers. I have no disrespect for anyone from any political party or religious group. I believe we can all learn from the other. I am however not naive. I have lived in many places that most folks have never imagined (an orphanage to name one). If you ever catch me being catty or disrespectful, I will pay you 100 US dollars. I do know that we all come from different backgrounds and perspectives. I appreciate that and would not have it any other way. Email

    Just Wondering
Don't go calling me pro-abortion, but I do believe it is a private choice and should remain a private choice. I would never advocate an abortion. I believe that the majority of women that have them struggle with the decision immensely. I believe it has an effect on them that will last decades. But I will never judge anyone for making that call. Too often though, we judge people for making decisions. We all have different backgrounds and life experiences. We should not judge. We should have compassion and sympathy. If you are unlucky enough, perhaps you will have empathy. And no, ...

    Smoking

    Smoking
Yes, I am a smoker. Yes, I know it is a terrible habit. Yes, I know it really ticks some people off. But most would be surprised to know that not only do I smoke like a fool, but I also exercise at least 3 hours a day. Running included. I get the nasty looks, but I also see the disappointed looks on other's faces when I pass by them as they smoke when I am exercising. Little do they know that I feel their pain. A lot of exercise fanatics are closet smokers. We are closet smokers because we have been ...

I want to call out the fools that do not see that a left turn lead light is very limited. It is actually the one time whilst driving that you should tail gate the car in front of you. Don't let several car lengths turn before you turn. You have a green arrow light you dolts! Go, go, go! I also need to call out the railroad crossing stoppers. What the frick is wrong with you? You have this behemoth vehicle with 4 wheel drive, yet you come to a near complete stop at a railroad. Sure, there are indeed a ...

    Civility and Ice
The recent "threat" of possible ice and/or snow brought up the overused topic of the Civil War. Imagine a little snow bringing up such a subject! I must first point out that I do NOT identify myself as a southerner, northerner, easterner, westerner, etc. I think it is silly to identify yourself by the region you happened to be born in. But when we get a threat of snow or ice, the southern haters come out in droves and tell us what morons we are. We are regaled with stories of waiting at the bus stop in 2 feet of ...

    Pointless
Perhaps I am the one that was not paying attention, but it truly seems that in all avenues of my life, most folks do not have reading comprehension skills anymore. I am not sure if this has always been the case, but I am guessing it has not. I do not consider myself some great scholar and certainly do not consider myself superior to any individual. I love all folks for some silly reason.  And if you are really reading this, you are waiting for the but. Well here it is: but, people do not read AND comprehend anymore. In my ...

    What's up with the hate?
Okay, so I have no political affiliation. I am not feeling any of those fools personally. But I do know from studying history that government in at least this country was founded for the "good of man." All opinions were welcome. All opinions were part of the "great melting pot." By refusing other opinions we are also going against the origins of our country. I also know that this is supposedly a Christian nation. Again, I have no affiliation with any religion either. I find them all very interesting, just don't get it. I know that I can say I ...

    Distinguished gentleman
Watch CNN one night. Or just read the legislative minutes from any body of government. If you are in the South you will hear the distinguished gentleman take his position in front of his podium and microphone and proclaim (in my best southern man drawl), "I would like to thank Ms. Beam's 3rd grade class for their visit today." Or, "May the floor please recognize the birth and death of Mr. James Albert Stanley and his distinguished pursuits in WWII." Or, "It is my honor today to say Happy Birthday to a Mrs. Hattie Grey. I would like to acknowledge ...

When did abbreviations and computerspeak/textspeak become acceptable language? I do not like to see someone (whether in person or on television) vomit, but I cringe more at the use of terms like veggie, hubby, carb, LOL, ROFL and many more that I haven't the faintest clue of the meaning. I may have just dry heaved a bit even typing those "words." Have we become so busy, self-important and impersonal that we cannot pronounce the proper word? Are teachers using this language in the classroom? If not, we are likely not far from it. I have come to believe that the use ...
