The Word from Athens
The marquee of the famed Georgia Theatre in Athens usually features the names of well-known bands or bands you never heard of but probably will hear of in the future.
The theatre has hosted such famed bands as REM, Widespread Panic, U2 and others who got their start in Georgia’s music city.
A few weeks ago, the interior of the Georgia Theatre was gutted by fire, although the exterior is still intact. Now, the marquee simply says “Ouch!”
