I discovered your writing while searching "Horse Creek Valley". I grew up in Gloverville. My grandparents lived in Langley and worked in cotton mill. I remember the day the Langley Mill burned.
Your story is so well written. I have often thought would be great if someone could write a book about HCV....
Thanks for sharing.

Great job! Uncle Johnny was a good man and like you I wish I had known him better, but in the short time I did know him he always made me feel very loved and very special. And his son didn't fall far from the old apple tree in that area. Take care, I love you.

Splendid. Really. I admire the idea of the Florida Frog Farm and suspect that your father would have loved Tom Robbins and vice versa.

Great stuff, Bob. I just spent some time with my Dad and I, too, was reminded of those distant years when the old man's actions and motives just seemed so... foreign. I suppose I am a total mystery to my son. And I guess no matter how well know them, we'll always wish we had known our fathers better. Thanks for sharing this little slice of your life.

Great excerpt Dad! A real poignant bit with injections of humor and your usual knack for realistic dialogue. Happy Father's Day!

Bob: I'm so happy to see the byline of a great writer like you here. This story is not only beautifully written but very moving. Get-rich schemes? Why not take a chance on them if you understand what mill village life was like? I think so many good stories from the mill town South are not being told and will soon be forgotten. These stories might be the most neglected of all the aspects of Southern culture that should be written about. I'm very happy that you've shared this one.

Bob, I'm looking forward to more. But, for now, it seems so sad...
Love to you.
