I graduated in 1976 from UGA and Dr. Blackmon was instrumental in my career. he was always willing to talk and always gave good solid advice based on experience. He told us once to "Work where you want to live and you'll do fine and enjoy life a lot better." Thank you for sharing him.

Thanks for sharing Myra. It doesn't help the guilt, but all us humans have similar regrets and probably always will. On the positive side, I just got to know you a little better.

A great man that was always kind and always took time to say hello and put a smile on your face. He would take me out of classes to go bleed hogs when I was a veterinary student. If we could all be like Dr. Blackmon the world would be a far better place.

One of my favorite people all time. I love to share my Dilmus stories and his sayings when the opportunity arises. Unbelievably clever, completely honest and a role model for umpteen veterinarians in the Southeast.

Thank you so much for this lovely story. Aren't we lucky to have these special people among us still, and don't we hope and pray that there are younger ones among us who will fill the void as they disappear. I can think of a few of my acquaintance who may be able to fill the bill. Gentlemen: keep doing what you do!

My equestrine infatuated daughter attended a foaling lecture by Auburn's David Pugh, DVM, in Denver, CO. As she approached him after the lecture, he saw Blackmon on her name tag and tearfully launched into an oration of what a mentor Dr. Blackmon has been and is to him. The pocket knife he gave me for UGA graduation is safely stored in my underwear drawer.
